When you think of Greece, what pops up in your head? Santorini? Mykonos? Probably Athens too? Of course, those places are incredibly breathtaking! But what about Naxos?
I had the chance to spend 4 days in Naxos, which is a small island about 4 hours (by ferry) from Santorini. Let me just say, I completely fell in love with this island.
The great thing about Naxos is that its not filled with a bunch of tourists. You can really get the feel of an authentic greek island.
Take it from me, its a must do island when you visit Greece.
Here are 4 things to do in Naxos, Greece.

1- Spend an entire day at the beach
Naxos can offer a variaty of beaches all along the coast of the island. Usually, other popular island (like Mykonos) can be quite expensive when you go the the beach. You can pay up to 20 euros, for 2 beach chairs and a umbrella. Not to mention, the alcohol is also very expensive….. Naxos, on the onther hand can offer you the same thing for 2 euros, and really cheap mojitos. What more can you ask for?

2- Eat some of the freshest sea food ever!!!
Anytype of seafood in Greece is to die for. But Naxos, ouh lala. If you like seafood, I recommend trying the calamary form any restorant. You will loveeee it. It’s incredibly fresh and no so expensive!

3- Watch the sunset from the door.
Its about a 10 minute walk from the main port of the island. This Great Door (Portara) looks tiny from a far, but is actually eneourmous from up close. Back in 530 B.C., the ruler of Naxos, Lygdamis, wanted to build the biggest temple in Greece on the Island of Naxos. The temple was never finished, but the Great Door remained in place to this day. It’s the best place to watch the sunset after a day at the beach.
4- Shop the authentic boutiques.
Naxos has a bunch of little boutiques, everywhere around the island where you can find great clothes and accesories that you won’t find anywhere else. A lot of hand-man purses that you will actually use, and clothes that you probably won’t find back home. Save money, and encourage the Naxians, instead of doing your shopping in expensive places; Santorini and Mykonos.
