First off, let me just say that I haven’t experienced all of the beaches in Italy so, this list could seem a little bias. But really, is there really a beach in Italy that isn’t amazing? Don’t think so… this list of beaches are from what I experienced in the summer of 2016, on my first solo trip to Italy. Keep in mind, some of these locations could have changed since I’ve been, but I’m sure they are still incredible!\

1- TAORMINA - ISOLA BELLA BEACH

Let's talk the South of Italy; Sicily. Anyone who's been toSicily knows this Italian island is a world of its own. Sicilian’s have their own cuisine, their own language and their own culture; they are a little like the Quebec province in the Canadian country.

Isola Bella, located in a town called Taormina, is just breathtaking. The water is so clear and blue that you can always see your feet no matter how deep you go. This isn’t the beach to go if you are looking for hot sand, it’s more like hot tiny rocks; so be careful when walking to and from the water (tip: wear flip flops at all times). This is the place to go if you want to hang out in the sun all day. Also, make sure to take the cable car from the town to the beach and vise-versa; trust me, you will not enjoy the 3000* steps you will need to take to go back to town!

2- CINQUE TERRE - MONTEROSSO BEACH

If you’ve never heard about Cinque Terre, make sure to stop what you are doing (still come back and read the rest of my blog thought), and go look at some pictures of these five coastal towns. To be honest, pictures don’t do them justice! The only way to get to Monterosso is by train or by boat from the first town.

This beach is great if you want to just relax and get a nice tan. Depending on what time of year you go, the water can be a little colder than you expect. I went in June so the water was great if you wanted to freshen up, but not so great to spend time swimming. (tip: try the calamari in a cone, it’s the best!!!!)

3- CALABRIA - ARDORE

I might be a little bias when it come to this beach, because it was sentimental values for me, but seriously, this beach is amazing. If you really like non-touristy places, and like to hang out with locals, this is the beach to go. Adore is located at the south of Italy’s boot, during the summer it can get really hot on the beach. I could easily spend the entire day laying there and swimming in the clear blue water. If you get thirsty, there are little restaurants/bar along the coast of the water, and some place they even serve you on the beach.

4- AMALFI COAST - POSITANO

This is my, by far my favorite beach in Italy. Even everything about the Amalfi Coast is incredible to look at. The streets of Positano are extremely charming and the views on the ocean are incredible every turn you take. Make sure to get a Gelato or two while you spend an entire day just swimming and hanging out. During the summer, the sun set on the top of those houses, and if you get lucky they may even be a firework show!

This is a place worth adding to your bucket list, you will not be disappointed.
